FAQ.
Everything people have actually asked us, in roughly the order they ask it. If what you need is not here, the chat on the site reaches a person.
Tickets & Passes
What tickets do you offer?
We offer Single Day Passes and a 4-Day Pass. The festival runs for 4 days, followed by a final-day after-party — 5 days of Soundscapes in total. A single day pass can be used on any of the main days, and you're welcome to buy several at once (each guest receives their own individual ticket). After-party access is included for 4-Day Pass holders and for anyone who buys a single day pass for the final day.
How does your pricing / tier system work?
Prices are based on availability — the earlier you buy, the cheaper the ticket. There's a limited number of tickets in each tier; once a tier sells out, the next one opens at a higher price. Current 4-Day Pass tiers:
- Early Bird — $299
- 1st Release — $329
- 2nd Release — $359
- Final Release — $389
- Last Call — $419
Once Last Call sells out, the festival is sold out.
Where do I buy tickets?
All tickets are sold through our website, soundscapes.me. If you'd rather not use another platform or you hit a snag at checkout, message us and we'll send you a secure payment link directly.
Are tickets available yet / are they sold out?
Tickets go on sale with the Early Bird tier on 25 August. There's a limited number of tickets per tier — once one sells out, the next opens. Because capacity is limited, we recommend buying early.
Do I have to choose which day I attend when I buy?
No — a single day pass works on any day, so you can decide once you're here.
Can I buy tickets at the door / on the day?
The festival is usually sold out well before the event, so we strongly recommend buying online in advance to avoid disappointment.
I bought a ticket but my +1 / guest didn't receive theirs.
No problem — send us the email address used for that order and we'll track it down and resend.
Lineup, Set Times & Schedule
Where can I see the lineup and set times?
The full lineup and day-by-day timetable are released closer to the festival, announced across our website (soundscapes.me/lineup) and social platforms. If you already have your ticket, keep an eye on our socials — the schedule drops shortly before the event.
What are the festival dates?
Soundscapes Zanzi VI takes place 21–25 January 2027 in Zanzibar — four festival days plus the final-day after-party.
What time does the festival open and close each day?
The site opens daily from mid-afternoon (around 3pm) with our wellness program, second stage, local food area, bars and market, and runs through the night until around 8am.
Is there an after-party?
Yes — the festival closes with the etc... After-party on the final day (day 5). Access is included for 4-Day Pass holders and for anyone with a single day pass for the final day.
Other Editions & What's Next
When is the next Soundscapes?
Our current edition is Soundscapes Zanzi VI, 21–25 January 2027, in Zanzibar. Soundscapes began in Bahrain and has grown into a travelling festival, and we also run a Bahrain edition. We announce new editions and dates on our website and socials (Instagram @soundscapes.bh) — follow us to hear first.
I have a ticket but can't make it — can I use it for a future edition?
Yes. We have a no-refund policy, but your ticket can be held and we'll honor it at a future edition, or you're free to resell or gift it.
Do you run events outside Zanzibar?
Yes — we've hosted editions in Bahrain (at La Fontaine Centre of Arts, Manama) as well as Zanzibar. For Bahrain-edition queries you can reach us at soundscapesbh@gmail.com.
Location & Venue
Where is the festival held?
Soundscapes Zanzi sits on Bwejuu Beach, one of Zanzibar's stunning white-sand shores (Tanzania). The neighbouring village of Paje is close by, and many guests stay in either.
How many stages are there?
The festival features a main stage and a second stage, alongside a wellness program, local food area, bars and a market on site.
Discounts & Resident Pricing
Do you offer a discount for Zanzibar / Tanzania residents?
Yes. Residents receive 50% off with the promo code "localzanzi" at checkout. Please have proof of residency ready, as it's required at entry.
I can't find or apply the discount code.
Enter localzanzi in the promo/coupon field at checkout. If it isn't applying (for example, only discounting one ticket in a group order, or not registering at all), message us and we'll fix it or send a corrected payment link.
Are there any other discounts?
Volunteers can receive a discounted pass (see Volunteering below).
Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major cards — Visa, Mastercard and American Express — as well as Apple Pay. Online payments are in USD; at the festival we accept both USD and TZS. If you have trouble online, we can also issue you a direct secure payment link.
My card was declined / the payment link isn't working.
Sorry for the hassle — this is usually a gateway issue rather than your card. Message us and we'll send a fresh secure payment link to complete your order.
Is the festival cashless? How does the top-up work?
Yes, the festival runs on a cashless system on-site. You can buy a cashless top-up online in advance, and reload at dedicated top-up stations at the festival — the Haven Station (Entrance), Baqala, and the bars.
Refunds, Transfers & Reselling
Can I get a refund if I can't attend?
We don't offer refunds. However, your ticket is flexible: you can resell or gift it, or hold onto it and we'll honor it at a future edition.
Can I gift or transfer my ticket to a friend?
Tickets are associated with the ticket holder's name. If you'd like to transfer your ticket to someone else, contact us and we'll help arrange it.
Accommodation & Packages
Where should I stay?
Check our vetted options on the Book a Room page: soundscapes.me/book-a-room (top-right menu → "Book a room"). There are great hotels within walking distance in Paje, plus more in Bwejuu. You can also book on booking.com or Airbnb in Paje or Bwejuu — all a short drive from the festival.
Do you offer packages that include accommodation?
This year we've booked out the hotel right next to our venue. Accommodation packages are available to members of the community on request — message us and we'll share what's available.
Can you help with rooms for a larger group?
Absolutely — we regularly help bigger groups arrange rooms and villas, from boutique hotels with beach shacks to 5–6 bedroom villas. Tell us your group size and we'll help sort it.
Getting There & Transport
How do I get to and from the festival?
Taxis are stationed outside the festival gate 24/7 for easy transport to and from Bwejuu, Paje and nearby hotels. If you're staying more than ~1 km away, taxi is easiest; closer hotels are within walking distance.
Do you arrange airport pickup / transport?
We work with a vetted transport team and can arrange your transfers — once your travel is booked, send us your flight details and we'll confirm your transport.
Travel & Visa
Do I need a visa for Zanzibar / Tanzania?
Most visitors need a visa. It's a quick process — you can apply online in advance (Tanzania e-visa) or, if you're not from an exemption-required country, on arrival at the airport. If you'd like extra help, we can connect you with our trusted on-the-ground visa agent.
I applied online but didn't get a confirmation email.
The online system doesn't always trigger a confirmation email — in most cases your visa is still processed and will be in the system when you land.
Food, Drinks & On-Site
Can I bring my own food or drinks?
No outside food or drinks are allowed — we have everything on site, including bars, food vendors, a juice bar with fresh smoothies and coconuts, and a local food area.
Is there a market on site?
Yes — we host a market with vendors selling crafts, clothing and beachwear, alongside the food area and bars.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
Dress code is casual — come comfortable to dance and enjoy. Think light, beach-friendly outfits (you can also grab beachwear at our on-site market).
What's included in my ticket? Is there VIP?
Your pass includes festival entry and access to the stages, wellness program, market, food area and bars. There's no separate VIP tier — every guest enjoys the full festival experience.
Age Policy
Is there an age limit? Is it family friendly?
Yes, it's family friendly during the day: kids and pets are welcome when accompanied by an adult until dark, and children under 18 enter free. After dark, the festival is 18+ only.
Safety & Inclusivity
Is the festival safe / LGBTQ+ friendly?
Soundscapes is a welcoming, inclusive community and we prioritise a safe environment for all guests. Taxis run to and from the gate around the clock.
Getting Involved
Can I volunteer at the festival?
Yes, we love volunteers! To apply, email contact@soundscapes.me. Volunteers can also receive a discounted pass. Spots for each edition can fill up, so reach out early.
I'm an artist / DJ — can I perform?
Our lineup is curated and locked months ahead of each edition, alongside a full campaign, so we're usually not taking submissions once it's set. We'd still love to stay in touch for future editions — reach out at contact@soundscapes.me with your material.
I'd like to be a vendor at the market.
We'd love to hear from you. Contact us at contact@soundscapes.me with what you'd like to sell (crafts, clothing, food, etc.).
I'd like to collaborate, or talk to you as media or press.
Media and press are welcome — reach out at contact@soundscapes.me and tell us what you have in mind. Sponsorship we do not take: the festival is independent, and no sponsor rearranges the scenery here. That is not a gap in the funding, it is the point.
